LESNEY PARK     by Keith Trueman

Lesney Park is my first venture into British outline modelling, with all my previous layouts being based on Australian HO practice.

The layout is losely based in South London, with the opportunity to run some of my favourite classes of locomotives and electric units. This view shows the finished parcels depot building.

Baby Warship D6325, a Dapol model with engine exhaust port corrected, and the model repainted and weathered. Whilst visiting the big smoke D6325 is seen here having just shunted its rake of empty engineers consist back into the siding.

A lone Grampus sits in the siding at Lesney Park. This is a detailed and weathered Dapol model.

Class 31 number 31014 is probably my favourite loco from the fleet. The work in converting this Lima bodied model with at least separate wire handgrabs for which about 82 holes were drilled, together with shawplan glazing and etched fan / grille detailing fitted, certainly makes for a decent model. The loco has a Hornby Railroad motor bogie in place of the pancake type, and the original wheel sets have been reinstated after reprofiling their flanges. Another favourite of mine is Heljan class 33/2 6591 emerging from the branch portal with a few repaired brake vans ex workshops, which are all basically out of the box / detailed items from the Bachmann range.

There is still much more to be done to the ground works in the area around the furniture factory.

This Heljan Dogfish is basically straight out-of-the-box, just gauge converted and then some weathering treatments added with enamel paints.
